PVI's health insurance lapsed

Former employees at Protected Vehicles Inc. could end up with unexpected medical bills because the manufacturer waited about two weeks to inform them they had lost their health insurance. The North Charleston-based company, which made armored military vehicles before an abrupt shutdown last month, was informed by its health-care carrier in writing Dec. 12 that its group policy was canceled.
